In 1979 and 1980, Formula One Grand Prix spectators got a very special treat ... Procar racing on Saturday.

The race car drivers were the fastest qualifiers from Friday.

In a way, the Procar series was the forerunner of the popular IROC (International Race of Champions) series held in the USA, where champion drivers race identically equipped cars.

The Procar M1's used the 24-valve inline 6-cylinder M88/1 engine with 500 hp and a top speed approaching 200 mph. When turbocharged, the engine was capable of almost 1000 hp!

Other F1 competitors included Mario Andretti, Eddie Cheevers, Emerson Fittipaldi, Alan Jones, Jochen Mass, Dieter Quester, Carlos Reutemann, Hans-Joachim Stuck and Marc Surer.

Niki Lauda won the championship in 1979 Nelson Piquet won in 1980..................

You will need Brands Hatch, Donington, Norisring, Zolder and Dijon Prenois tracks to complete the seasons. GDB, SCN and track loading screens have been provided in the installation. Brands Hatch and Donington can be found in the Retro 2002 Mod and I'm sure else where on the net if not already on your hard drive.

The mod features the 1979 and 1980 seasons. The seasons can be separately or combined into one.

Templates are also included in the installation. If you check our forum thread at RSC you'll find that Haman132 has provided some very good pics of cars that we haven't painted yet. We will be happy to host add-on cars on our site and add them to the installation if they are part of the historic seasons. The templates include the car, windshield, helmet and icons. Note the icon templates are large and need to be sized down before saving.

Be sure to read the readme.txt file in the RAR installation! The readme will contain instructions on how to add a car to the mod as well as how the gen string line in the VEH files works for changing rims and tire manufacturer.

Last but not least please share your setups with us!
