try to install newest directx 9.0c (June 2006 edition). it maybe helps because I have XP too, newest directX and my GP4 works properly with no_cd patch (without too :) )
When I try to start the game without the CD I receive an error message: "you need to install directx 8.1 before". Of course I have XP so, I have directx 9 :confused:
