Alonso to replace Raikkonen at Ferrari in 2010
|
|
Ferrari finally confirmed on Wednesday that Fernando Alonso will race for the team next season, replacing Kimi Raikkonen as Felipe Massa’s team mate. Giancarlo Fischella will continue in the role of reserve driver.
Alonso, who has spent the bulk of his Formula One career with Renault, has signed a three-year agreement with Ferrari, starting in 2010.
“We are very proud to welcome to our team another winning driver, who has demonstrated his amazing talent by winning two world championships in his career to date,” said Ferrari team principal Stefano Domenicali.
Alonso made his Formula One debut in 2001 with Minardi, before becoming Renault’s official test driver the following season. In 2003 he was promoted to a race seat and became F1 racing’s youngest Grand Prix winner with victory. By the end of 2005 he was also its youngest champion.
He successfully defended his title in 2006, fending off a resurgent Michael Schumacher in the latter half of the season, before taking his number one with him to McLaren for 2007, where he endured a tempestuous year alongside Lewis Hamilton.
Alonso returned to Renault for 2008, scoring two race wins, despite a less than competitive car. This season the team have been off the pace once more, with the Spaniard taking just one podium to date, at the last round in Singapore.
He will become only the second Spanish driver to compete for Ferrari, following in the footsteps of Alfonso de Portago, who raced for the team in 1956 and 1957.
Raikkonen has yet to confirm his plans for 2010.

Kimi and Alonso are the best (overall) drivers at the moment, but there is one big difference between em. Alonso helps the mechanics out developing each seasons car, when Kimi just race with it.

Well he got struck by a bolt of stupidity that day :)
Renault didnt do anything It was Flavio Symmonds and Piquet which is rather ridiculous Imagine if the safety car never occurred Alonso would have finished dead last If you notice the only drivers to pit before the SC period were Kubica and Rosberg who were shooting in the top 10 None of the rest pitted at that time
So if you refuse to question Alonsos involvement in the crash-gate you have to accept questioning his mental state to accept this "strategy" without asking any questions, because he is a 2-time world champion and he has a lot of influence on his race strategy its not like he is Piquet Any other reason would make him guilty or at least he just ingnored it because deep down he knew what was going to happen, he just never asked Flavio (which is ethically is as guilty as knowing but for the law he is innocent)

Oreslayer, It was RENAULT´s strategy.
And alonso hasn´t got the lowest IQ because YOU DON´T KNOW HIM. And I think none of us know the mind of a pilot.
I don´t know that to win 2 championships and 21 wins were a stupidity.
(for those who think insulting me) is useless, Im a real amateur, not a stupid fanboy. And always respond politely to comments if I want.

Alonso didnt know about the crash gate, OK I accept that but Alonso got to have the lowest IQ on the grid
To be the first to pit when he qualified 15th on the grid in a circuit where overtaking is very difficult and not even asking why
I give it to you, Alonso was saved only by his stupidity

look in google "fealonso"
ALL mclaren team cheated in 2007 , starting with ron dennis, then with hamilton , at last, alonso and de la Rosa.
About singapore, Alonso havent got fault, because the cheaters are Renault, NOT alonso. And alonso dont know nothing. Just look at the celebration and interview.
I see your pissed off by these Ferraris decision
(Pissed off : mosqueado, enfadado).
sorry for my bad english

well, you never know McL faced a cheating scandal in 2007 when alonso was there...Reno faced a cheating thing again and guess who was in the team-Alonso...and we all know the behaviour of alonso...wants everybody to listen to him and be his slaves...so put 2 n 2 together, alonso might have initiated the ideas for cheating :D

Am in such a mess am a big Kimi supporter and hated Ferrari coz of schumi before. But then I started liking them and now i dont know which team to support but Kimi-Hami is by far the strongest pair on the grid. Alonso will only spend his time in the Maranello garage whining and complaining that they support Massa more than him and Massa will thrash him in every race anyway. He is so itching to come back to racing Good luck Alonso Just dont corrupt Ferrari as well, as you did in McLaren(2007) and Renault(2009), you cheat
